Mr. Arunangshu Dutta

Mr. Arunangshu Dutta is a highly accomplished senior banking executive equipped with a commanding track record of driving growth, building organizational capabilities and establishing world class sales, governance/risk management controls.

He introduced Investment Custodial Services for the first time in Bangladesh which Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) entered into as a new business operation in 1991 across 15 countries in the Asia Pacific region. He has pioneered, benchmarked and established service capabilities, and straightened up various bottlenecks in line with clients’ service, regulatory requirements and SCB group requirements in a completely new market which opened its door to foreign portfolio investments in September (1991).

Throughout the length of his services with Standard Chartered Bank (Bangladesh) for over 27 years, he maintained a pivotal role of securities custodian, and participated almost in all significant banking developments including switching to e-banking platforms and relevant changes in product programs (eg- escrow services, Non-resident Investors’ Taka Account – NITA, Non-resident Foreign Currency Deposit Account – NFCD and Resident Foreign Currency Deposit Account – RFCD). He also witnessed and participated in the latest developments of the Bangladesh capital markets including opening doors to foreign portfolio investors (1991), inception of BSEC (1993), establishment of CSE, introduction of automated trading system in CSE and DSE (1997/98) and conception, organization, development & commencement of CDBL operations (2004).

Mr. Dutta did his Masters of Science from Dhaka University and MBA from Trinity University (Delaware, USA). He also passed International Capital Markets Qualification (ICMQ) and Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ) of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (UK), besides attending the “Auditors/ Lead Auditors of Quality Systems” course (Neville Clarke, Singapore).
